Welcome To
Bangkok, Thailand
I attempted to find original Thai cuisine (fusion now being the main style) and finally settled for a rather large meal at the recommended Sahasdee Restaurant which is located at a sub-level of the InterContinental Hotel Bangkok. They have a set menu but most dishes are ala carte, for which there are many, prepared by a cooking staff of ten chefs. The food was enjoyable but did not meet the ‘traditional’ standard of hot/spicy/savory Thai cuisine. Next I’ll try the street vendors.

Pad Gra Prow
THAI BASIL BEEF
Thai basil beef is a ‘must’ dish to order when dining in a Thai restaurant. The beef has an intense flavor that comes from the darker, richer sauce used bt the chef. Note that pad gra prow is actually made with a different kind of basil, referred to as holy basil.
Gluten-Free
Thai Noodles
Rice noodles are most common in the cuisines of East and Southeast Asia. Thai noodles are some of the most popular. Try a version of Pad Thai that features stir-fried rice noodles with chicken in a tangy sauce with toppings of chopped nuts and basil.
Sour and Spicy
Tom Yum Soup
Tom yum is a hot and sour Thai soup that’s usually cooked with shrimp, whose origin is in Thailand, and in recent years has been popularised around the world. ‘Tom’ refers to the boiling process, while ‘yam’ refers to a Thai spicy and sour salad.
