About Pineapple

My Fist Pineapple Harvest. The Pineapple is a tropical plant with edible fruit, has a bright yellow fibrous inner flesh, is naturally very sweet, and its best taste is when ripe. It emits a pleasant aroma, and the juice has a tendency to quench thirst. I experienced my first ever harvest of pineapple grown in my home garden.

Botanical name: Ananas comosus, the pineapple exact origins have yet to be determined. But botanists agree that the pineapple originated in the Americas, from the Paraná–Paraguay River drainages between southern Brazil and Paraguay. Little is known about its domestication, but it spread as a crop throughout South America. Archaeological evidence of its cultivation/use is found as far back as 1200 – 800 BC in Peru and 200BC – AD700 in Mexico where it was cultivated by the Mayas and the Aztecs. By the late 1400s, cropped pineapple was widely distributed, and became a stable component of the diet of Native Americans.
