Discover the true meaning of humanity

Humanity’s vast and enormously complex diversity is endowed with spiritual wonders that gives credence to its oneness as a species. Updates ongoing.
Nairobi, Kenya

Nairobi, Kenya

Giraffe Center

Kenya has seen human habitation since the Lower Paleolithic period. Now a modern state of multi-ethnic diversity that consists of the Bantu, Nilo-Saharan, and Afro-Asiatic ethno-linguistic areas of Africa, Kenya has a rich and long history.

My travel experience.
Unique adventures provide spiritual insights.
I do not question the oneness of the human family. I live that reality with every fiber of my being. Over the years I have developed a fondness for human diversity with all its vast and seemingly non-ending complexity, finding therein not a cause célèbre but rather the very reason for humankind’s existence; a proving ground, a means for growth and refinement based largely on association and humanitarian response to conflicts that ravage its inner peace.

The spiritual core of human family lies within its diversity, its here that solutions will be forthcoming to resolve conflicts and also to map those sustainable pathways needed to progressively advance toward a more secure and thereby mature future.

Humanity’s problems are many, but to me one stands out as a primary. I’ve been told that the soul of a nation resides in its masses, that those living close to the soil are spiritually reliant as they toil relentlessly to survive untold hardships. When comes the time for their economic revival, how then can spirituality be maintained within the process of material achievement?

What To Say

ABOUT ME

“He enjoys being in a country where he is ignorant of
almost everything. Then learning happens.”

“Because he had no place he could stay in without getting tired of it and because there was nowhere to go but everywhere, keep rolling under the stars…”
― Jack Kerouac, On the Road

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.”
― Mark Twain

“All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost.”
― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

“The gladdest moment in human life is a departure into unknown lands.”
– Sir Richard Burton

“Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire.”
– Jennifer Lee

“The real voyage of discovery consists not
in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.”
― Marcel Proust

“The traveler sees what he sees. The tourist sees what he has come to see.”
― G.K. Chesterton

Africa.
The new approach to Africa research.
Of the eight periods proposed by the author requiring a new approach to research, “The first period would begin with ‘prehistory,’ primarily because Now, one of the oldest cities on earth, was begun by Blacks before recorded history. Another important reason is that the Canaanites and asians had invaded the Nile Delta and established a stronghold in Lower Egypt (then Northestern Ethiopia or Chem) in prehistoric times. This early concentration of whites along the seacoasts of the Land of the Blacks is a circumstance of crucial importance in black history because it was exactly from this development that the achievements of the Blacks were overshadowed by later writers or blotted out entirely.” Black specialists must review and conduct in-depth studies of this period, particularly, and in addition to the seven other periods listed. This new approach to the research of African history means that the best histories can be written only after the work of the specialists is done. Photo taken Oct 2000 outside Asmara, Eritrea.
Persia (Iran).
Qur’an Gate or Shiraz Gate is a historic gate in the north of Shiraz, Iran.
Qur’an Gate (Persian: دروازه قرآن‎) or Shiraz Gate (Persian: دروازه شیراز‎) is a historic gate in the north of Shiraz, Iran. It is located at the northeastern entrance of the city, on the way to Marvdasht and Isfahan, between Baba Kouhi and Chehel Maqam Mountains near Allahu Akbar gorge.

The Gate was first built during the reign of ‘Adud ad-Dawla. By the time of the Zand dynasty, it had sustained a lot of damage, so it was restored and a small room on top was added, in which were kept hand-written Qur’āns by Sultan Ibrahim Bin Shahrukh Gurekani. The two Qur’āns are known as Hifdah-Man. Travelers passing underneath the gates were believed to receive the blessing of the Holy Book as they began their trip or journey from Shiraz. Wikipedia. Photo taken Dec 1971 as I approached Shiraz from its northern entrance. My time in-country was approximately six-weeks.

Europe.
The name is derived from ‘Europa’, a goddess in Greek mythology.
I lived and worked in Frankfurt, Germany (then West Germany) for five years. This afforded me opportunities to travel extensively in-country and also to visit other European nations (Holland, France, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belgian, Austria, Hungary). Some years previously I had traveled to Spain and the Netherlands and this time around I was able to revisited the Netherlands on several occasions, driving to Amsterdam from Frankfurt. In Europe, cultural differences can be intense. Therefore, learning how to practice proper decorum within a particular national divide can be challenging.

History of European peoples and cultures. “Europe is a more ambiguous term than most geographic expressions. Its etymology is doubtful, as is the physical extent of the area it designates. Its western frontiers seem clearly defined by its coastline, yet the position of the British Isles remains equivocal. To outsiders, they seem clearly part of Europe.” Confused? Moscow.
Moscow Trip (1982). Russia’s Capital city overflows with history, art and culture.
There is much to be said about this trip that took place during the Cold War between the USSR and the United States. There certainly was a great deal of intrigue experienced by all of us as travelers from the West. We were also met with much suspicion, and a great amount of surveillance activity. I won’t attempt to recount it all now because time and space is limited. However, I will later complete and updated with a complete narrative and accompanied with photographs. So, stay tuned!

Russian culture has a rich cultural history, steeped in literature, ballet, painting and classical music. Russia has a very visual cultural past, from its colorful folk costumes to its ornate religious symbols. Russian culture places a high value on the homeland and on family, and it is home to at least 190 ethnic groups (77.7% Russian descent, 3.7% Tatar, 1.4 % Ukrainian, 1.1% Bashkir, 1% Chuvash, 1% Chechen, 10.2% other, 3.9% unspecified.
