Hiking/Climbing the India Venster Trail
Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa
September 2006
Between 2003-2014 we lived in Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa for approximately 6-7 non-consecutive years. The broad expanse of Table Mountain National Park offers some of the best hiking and climbing experiences that anyone could ever wish for, and I spent many hours exploring its environs. Having resided at various times in Mouille Point, Sea Point and upper Fresnay, I was always glad that I was well positioned to gain quick access to Singal Hill and Table Mountain. Over time, I will record more of my personal experiences in Cape Town and in other areas of South Africa. All photos were taken by me, but the quality suffers as they are digitized copies of old color prints. Seldom do I take photos of myself (selfes) during my climbs/hikes because it interferes with my attention/safety. I’m busy deciding where I must place my next step, but at times I do try to photograph the scenery.
India Venster Trail
The India Venster Trail affords a steep climb that begins from a bottom point (center-left)
of Table Mountain and proceeds upward to reach the cable car station visible at the
top-right of the mountain. The way up offers captivating views of Cape Town.
India Venster
Anyone who has experienced the India Venster Trail will tell you that it is not for the faint-hearted. Though some areas may be challenging, still, the views make up for it. Follow these links for additional information:
