Commentary
The concert was characterised by the quality of music performed by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and its first violinist ; highlighted by the talent and pleasant character, complete with delightful antics, displayed by the conductor, Kahchun Wong.
My main reason for attending was to experience the latest work, Aerie’s Lullaby, of Syafiqah ‘Ada Sallehin, a Singaporean composer and musician who is discovering the power that music can bring to the world through concert settings and exploring interdisciplinary works.
It was noted that “Violinist Daniel Lozakovich’s majestic music-making has left critics and audiences spellbound”; also noted this evening by his perfect mastery that expressed an exceptional talent, and with “poise, tonal purity, and technique to spare”. He delighted the audience by acknowledging their recall, three times, for his return to the stage for an additional performance.
